Well , today I had a phone call from my local dealer ( Camara in Bourges ) announcing that my M6 was back from CLA . Why did it need a CLA ? Because it had ingested 14 years of heavy dust from Africa , breathed sticky air from very damp areas like Djibouti , been coated inside and out by Large Top Fuel Dragsters burnouts . In addition , the flash was triggered when the shutter was armed , and the viewfinder was really dusty inside . So the thing went to CLA at the end of febuary , via my dealer , and came back today ; it was mine again after paying the amount of 2155.70 FF . What was done to it for that amount : First of all , the Leitz red dot is now a Leica red dot . Not of a good importance for the " user only " that I am , it could be a different story for a collector . The invoice lists what was done to it : body dissassembling , rangefinder - frames , brake , speed adjustment , sync , friction adjustment of the winding reel , ISO ring . No parts are beeing mentionned . The first thing I noted when I removed the front cap , was that the reflective white spot is much brighter than it was before . A closer look at the thing reveales that the curtains have been replaced ! I don't know why ? I also tried all speeds and my M6 feels much more soft and silent than it was ! Just like my M4 . My feeling is that the job was well done for the price to pay . I will let you know more after a few films . Regards JoGOODTIMES
