[Leica] Rapidwinder problem - M6

Hello all Lug nuts.
I had purchased the famous Tom Abrahamson
rapidwinder for my M6 last year new.
I tried to attach the basket from the M6 base plate
with the original machine screw. The screw hole
is too small for the factory machine screw to
attach to. 

Question for all - do I really have to use the plastic
basket from the original baseplate, if I do not use it
will I damage the camera ? 
Does anyone else use it without the factory basket attached ?
Does the rapidwinder come with a factory machine
screw installed ?  In looking at Tom's web page - 
he has a M6 rapidwinder with machine screw installed.
What is the machine thread specs for the factory
machine screw - hole diameter and thread pitch.

Should I return the winder to the dealer that I 
purchased it from for an exchange, or
repair by Tom A ? , or should I
have it modified locally by a machine shop ?
