A few months ago one of the UK mags compared most of the popular SLRs on a range of both straightforward and difficult lighting conditions. They included a Nikon FM as a baseline centre weighted system. The number of metering areas available in matrix mode did not correlate well with the exposure accuracy. A cheap Pentax with 5 or 6 zone matrix metering was as good as any. Some of the much vaunted systems were very average. But----- as we all know if you are serious about precise exposure you use an incident meter :-) GDR Cheers Frank
