Apparently the new Leica Distributor in Canada tried to have him switch job from Kindermann. He refused. Other technicians were also unsuccesfully approached. Mr. Smith is positive about Kindermann keeping it s technicians, parts and service equipment. He says that from a user s point of view there will be no difference, after April 1st, in the servicing of older SM or M cameras. They will simply no longer do repairs to new cameras under official warranty, they will of course provide their own warranty on all the work they perform. Seems that the new distributor is still in the business of finding new personnel! Mr. Smith just did curtain repairs and rangefinder alignment on a 1933 model III. Took about a week to perform the operation! UPS man showed up on Madison ave. last monday, the camera works like a charm, hear that one second purr. So these are the good news for those Luggers who send their cameras to Kindermann for repairs. Robert (Un chevalier sans blason)
