It's not what it contains. It's what's missing. For instance, a warning sign with an arrow pointing left! I came across a curve like this while driving one night after a college party. My car ended up in the field. A telephone pole like the one pictured took out the left fender of my VW bug (this is no joke, and I'm fortunate that I didn't hit the pole head on). That was an emotional experience. I've looked deeper into Eggleston's work and I can say that I like much of what I see. The thing that I see in his work that I find difficult to achieve is simplicity. Keep it simple and and uncluttered. Let gestault take over in the viewer's mind. Easy to say. Difficult to do. David
