Here, here !! For example, I recently spent some time with the new Nikon
D-1, which overall is a nice piece for a digital camera. But, not without
its faults, is an understatement. With anything new there will be design
refinements due to experience gained and lessons learned. But, other things
are just a bad idea from the start. For example, there are many little
"doors" all over the camera, behind which reside tiny buttons for different
programming functions. First, the buttons are so small that they require a
ball point pen to push accurately, second, the labeling on the buttons is
minuscule, and third, the "doors" appear very prone to breakage. In some
ways the camera reminded me of an advent calendar, but without the rewards of
chocolate behind the doors. Another less than sterling feature that struck
me was the cover for the LCD monitor screen on the back of the camera. It is
a snap-off black plastic piece that protects the screen when no t in use. By
being a snap-off design, it is prone to being lost, and is quite clumsy to
use/store when you do use the screen. A better design would have been a
sliding affair that remained on the back of the camera.
