The bride comes from a very refined, highly respected German family. The groom is a tall lusty blonde haired, blue eyed Swede who also has good blood lines. Got it figured out? Hasselbald and Leica. This would be the perfect marriage. They have non-competing product lines in the same industry. There would be significant cost savings to both companies by combining their marketing distribution and research & development operations; and to a lesser extent, manufacturing and administration. Both companies target the high end camera market. Hasselblad is more into the professional market, and Leica is more into the amateur market. Their product lines would therefore compliment each other. Both companies are Northern European. And, both companies are quality oriented. Hasselblad as always been strong in advertising and marketing, where this has been Leica's weak point. Leica Camera is ill and not getting well very fast, if at all. Hasselblad, from what I hear, is not doing bad, but could be doing better. Both companies would benefit from the cost savings and economics of scale. It would take the pressure off of Herr Cohn and make the Leica stock holders happy. This also would explain the sudden rise in the price of Leica's stock. Wow, what an opportunity for a travel agent...booking a vacation package to Solms, Germany and Go"teborg, Sweeden.
