...And how many great photographers have also been independently
wealthy? Cartier-Bresson is a well-known name in France even among
people who don't care a whit about photography. Elliot Porter was 50
before his income from photography equaled his income from his trust
fund. The list is long, and also dispiriting (unless, of course, you
also happen to be independently wealthy...)
