I feel that the threat to Leica from the efforts of the others is as great as
the threat to Nikon/Canon from the likes of Sigma or Vivitar. They will
take some of the purchases but they will also introduce new users who will
always strive to have the best. There is always the "if only I had a better
lens, my photos would be better" feeling amongst people, and they strive for
the best equipment. It is only when you get the best that this stops - like
most of us who now own Leica. But even amongst us we still strive for an
even better Leica, hence the constant interchange on the LUG.

And yes, I have bought the 15mm Voigtlander lens, and yes, I think its great.
But I will always feel it is a compromise and I will always wonder if I
should buy something better! Surely that's what this is all about, bringing
people back to rangefinder photography which started with people buying
point-and-shoot because they were simple, and now they want to move on to
something better.
