There is no technical reason, so far as I'm concerned, for any 35mm photographer not to consider the medium. The Epson 1200 produces amazing stuff, and I'm just beginning to get a feel for the various paper/ink combos available. The papers may redefine our notion of the 'print,' but a well-shot negative printed on Somerset Satin and printed at 11x16 is, quite simply, breathtaking. And, before you all start off on my 'ignorance,' I wrote a seminar paper for Beaumont Newhall's photo history course (oh, lo those years ago) that involved many hours among very serious prints. We ain't talking large format here. We're talking about *really* nice enlargements from 35mm. Tina's on the right track, in my view.
