First the condition. It is like brand new. The only fault I could find is a discoloration on the mirror. It is difficult to decipher the cause of the discoloration. The camera was in storage for over 25yrs. I can find no scratches or scuffs on the rest of the camera. As to the value, I checked the Christies camera auction and a chrome Leicaflex SL in this kind of condition went over $700. You can get an SL from a dealer. Tamarkin has a near mint one for $549. I would be more dubious myself of buying Ex++, Ex+, Ex- blah blah.. but that's just me. I thought that if it doesn't sell I would keep it and enjoy taking pics with it... or converting it from near mint to mint by having Leica install a new mirror. Then I would have to put it in a glass case and nevr use it, hehe. Since I can't afford to be a Leica collector and I just bought an R4 system on ebay.. I must sell. I have clearly been bitten by the Leica bug.. It's on eBay, and they are requesting a minimum of $500, which I don't think is cheap. I appreciate the advice. Anyone who has used cleaning solution on a mirror of an SLR may have done other "smart" things to it...The SL is easy to find, and not expensive, so there is no reason to buy a dubious one. Nathan >>
