I must say that this is the most misleading and erroneous definition of
digital.  Digital and symbolic are not synonymns. Digital is symbolic, but
not all symbolic things are digital.  Digital means a symbolic
representaiton of something in NUMBERS.  The Dead Sea Scrolls are not a
digital recording because they used WORDS, which are symbols but are not
digits.
