About 12,500 of these babies were made that year in screw , bayonet, and M3 versions. The general reputation is good, not as good as the f2.8 version but good enough for jazz. I've got one and am happy enough to use it, I even saw a pro photographer using one on his M3 just last year! You can buy new filters for them, 39mm size, even from Leica still. But a filter mounting ring? I'm not sure what you mean unless the front of your lens is missing... Jem - -----Original Message----- From: William Boyle [SMTP:wmboyle@iwinet.com] I have a Summaron that bears the marking "Summaron f=3.5cm 1:3.5 Nr.1553xxx Enrnst Leitz GmbH Wetzlar" Does anyone onthe list know what year this lens was produced? Does anyone on the list have any comments on these lenses? What is their general reputation? Is there much chance I can locate a new filter mounting ring for one of these? Thanks, Bill
