The R-8 needs the SCA3501 adapter. With this adapter, everything that is supposed to work, will indeed work on any SCA3000 compatible flash. This includes the MZ-2, the MZ-3, the MZ-3i, the MZ-50, and I suspect some more, too. Bernard
