Your Photokina pass is also a train pass. You can ride the train to and from Photokina, and any points around, at any time during Photokina, free. And there is a Photokina train station. It sure beats the gridlock auto traffic. I tried that a few times. The train is basically door to door. Simple, easy, and quick. The free pass is from Köln south. I don't know why it doesn't cover north of Köln. Last year I stayed in Uckerath. Wonderful small country town.
