TMAX-400 is in between the two but clearly better than Tri-X (though I do love the film). It does appear, however, that if we are concerned with the otherwise subtle differences between Leica and e.g. Canon lenses, that in order to get the full benefit of a Leica lens, it *does* require a high resolution film, and shot relatively wide open. Tri-X is a great film but does appear to be a lens equalizer. So, I use TMAX and Kodachrome whenever the light allows (I've always been a fan of Kodachrome ... thank god for A&I).
