I know Deet affects rubber and plastic.  I am an avid fly fisherman and
when I spray insect repellant on I do not spray the inside of my palms and
fingers but I spray the outside.  The spray eats flyline quickly.  I have
used my oldest black M6 many times when fishing but have noticed no ill
effects to it.
