Even Hasselblads rot if you store them improperly. I owned one which had blistered chrome and greenish corrosion on it's surfaces. What a mess! Probably could've been avoided had the prior owner simply gone over it with a damp toothbrush now and then. In fact, I do own another 500c about the same age--it's almost pristine. Maybe buy a new top cover (else get out the grinding tools and Bondo) for your camera and vow not to make the same mistake again! Jeff
