Bud,

If you have an E55 circular polarizer, get the step down ring, which would
be an E60 to E55 ring.

If you don't have the E55 filter, my suggestion is to get the Leica E60
Circular Polarizer, or an independent polarizer. Leica has redesigned the
E60 Circular polarizer by making the mount much shorter, probably so that it
can be used on wide angle lenses, namely the 24 Elmarit-R. The earlier
version of the filter resulted in some vignetting with this lens. These
filters have different catalogue numbers. This is also the option to follow
if you stack filters, since the Leica E60 filters have a front E60 thread.
This advice pertains to the E55 option also.

I purchased the lens hood and the Serie VIII circular polarizer. It works,
but that little wheel doesn't turn the filter very quickly. I prefer to use
the E60 Circular polarizer with this lens. By the way, I like the lens
hood. I keep it on the lens constantly. It provides protection to the
filter mounting ring of the lens, and works well with the drop in series
filters.
