I don't like to argue about plagues with a Doctor, but if three
quarters of the population were taken by a pandemic, it would most certainly
eat into the population of Leica users.

Which, of course, means that the number of potential buyers will
also be reduced!
I don't expect the next plague to be the Black Death, indeed,
bubonic plague is now eminently treatable. The next plague is likely to be
a rapidly moving virus which will be able to jump populations because of our
inability to control it...much like the indiscriminate influenza epidemics
of the early part of the Twentieth Century.
AIDS, anyone?
It is true, that the best prophylaxis against early death is
wealth, but the broad band of Leica users will not be immune because we have
already dissipated our wealth on cameras and lenses.
Sad, and somewhat true. However, as we can afford film and
processing for our Leicas, we are still way above the level of the most
plague susceptible.
