I've read Erwin's report which, as always, was very helpful. It seems as though this is a really a special purpose lens, not a replacement for the more compact 50s. I have been using my Summilux 35 ASPH as my low-light lens. My thinking was that the 35mm focal length would allow me to hand-hold say, one shutter speed slower than a 50mm, so the Noctilux and Summilux 35 ASPH were somewhat equivalent in terms of thier low-light ability. This line of thinking does not, however, take into account subject movement, which would be better stopped by the Noct. I've heard many rants and raves from Noct owners on the list in the past. I'd like to hear any comments from those of you who own one of these. Also, how many formulations have there been? Erwin seems to imply that there have been only two: the f1.2 version, and the f1.0. But he shows 5 variants on his site. Are they all the same optically, with the only differences being hood configurations and such? 11822 - 1.0/50mm Noctilux-M - current M60x0.75 built-in - 14290 E60 11821 - 1.0/50mm Noctilux-M - 1982-1994 M60x0.75 12544 - 14290 E60 11821 - 1.0/50mm Noctilux-M 3.220.708 1978-1982 M60x0.75 12539 - 14290 E60 11821 - 1.0/50mm Noctilux-M 2.919.656 1976-1978 M58x0.75 12519 - 14205 E58 11820 - 1.2/50mm Noctilux-M - 1966-1975 - 12503 - 14102 S8** Best to all, - --Jim Laurel Redmond, WA USA
