Subject: Re: [Leica] G2 on my new Contax

Hi Paul,

Your statement, "it stops you, then you adjust to it" is what turned me off
to the original G camera and the G2. This is also my problem with all the
"intelligent" AF SLR cameras. As a photographer, I know what I'm doing with
a camera. I resent being locked out of taking a photo if my choice does not
agree with some computer programmer's idea of what the correct settings might
be. Who is the boss here, the camera or the photographer? I also find the
time delay between pressing the shutter release and the camera deciding what
the correct exposure and focus will be before the shutter trips to be
annoying. Then there is the issue of depth of field scales on the Contax
lenses. There aren't any! How do you set the lens for hyperfocal distance?
The viewfinder is lousy if you wear glasses. There's no way to anticipate
what might be coming into a scene like you can with an M.
Anyway, this has all been said before. Give me an M camera any day of the
week. The G is not for me!
