My French relatives call Dutch a disease of the mouth...But I do not agree with
them and find Dutch reasonably easy to learn. Yes, the pronounciation can be
challenging but the grammar and structure of the language are quite simple.
Living in Belgium, I have learned both French and Dutch, and I think each has
its own set of difficulties. I have often contemplated writing a letter to the
Academie Francaise suggesting some simplifying changes to the language. The
only problem is that I would make too many errors in such a letter ;-)
