You set a customer function and the mirror will raise first and the camera waits 2 seconds (can be set up to 30 seconds on the EOS-3) to stabilize before the shutter takes the shot. It is most effective when the camera is on a tripod. Pop Photo did a recent test and proved that MLU was more effective than not using it when the camera was mounted on a tripod. Of course, Nikon left this feature out on their F100 as the F5 remains the only new Nikon SLR with MLU. The R8 of course includes this feature. Leica was not as shirtsighted as Nikon. MLU is even more effective when you are using slow shutter speeds on larger cameras such as a 'blad, Rollei SLR, and Pentax 67. This limits the shale from the larger mirror and helps maximize sharpness. Peter K
