Subject: [Leica] Noctilux test on Erwin's site

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but in my current
deliberations over whether to invest in a Noctilux I have just come across a
much more comprehensive test report than the one that Erwin used to have on
his site (and Hans Pahlen used to have on his).

Erwin has now posted what appears to be the full text of a report for Photo
Techniques (USA) at:

http://www.imx.nl/photosite/leica/m/tests/M10-50.html

As with most of Erwin's articles you really need to keep your wits about you
and concentrate if you are not to lose the plot, but this is certainly the
most comprehensive and informative lens test that I have ever come across,
giving a much fuller insight into the lens evaluation criteria that Erwin
uses in his other reports.

As I read through the report my convictions about whether or not to go
Noctilux waxed and waned as Erwin's typically even-handed discussion covered
advantages and disadvantages of the lens in all conceivable shooting
contexts, but in the end I was encouraged by Erwin's conclusion that the
Noctilux has a lot to offer in conditions other than just the expected
'available darkness'.

A fascinating report, surpassing even the high standard of the other reports
that Erwin has posted on his site, for which I, for one, am very grateful
because you can do with all the information you can get your hands on when
considering spending such a large amount of money on an item that you will
not be able thoroughly to evaluate yourself before purchase.

Simon.
