I was at a wedding yesterday and the couple had hired a 56 Rolls Royce to take them away from the chapel. The thing refused to start for a while, but persistant cranking and gas pedal stomping by the driver finally got it going. - -----Original Message----- From: Marc James Small [mailto:msmall@roanoke.infi.net] Sent: Sunday, May 30, 1999 7:01 AM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: Re: "demos" At 09:21 PM 5/29/99 -0700, Mr Code Cypher 793582 wrote: > > >I believe that Rolls Royce cars, at least prior to their association with >BMW, has no record of any faulty products. > >Isn't the first ever built Silver Ghost still in running order? Don't be foolish. Rolls Royce has a record of quite a few mechanical breakdowns. Hell, read TE Lawrence's SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM: the Rolls Royce armoured cars used in the Desert in '17 and '18 frequently broke down, they were just better than any other item of like equipment. I have met former RAF pilots who bailed out when their RR Merlin engines went west. I know Rolls Royce car owners whose engines have spun bearings. And so forth. Rolls Royce gear is immensely reliable, but NOTHING human is absolutely bullet-proof. Marc msmall@roanoke.infi.net FAX: +540/343-7315 Cha robh bas fir gun ghras fir!
