Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reply.  My R7 (SN #1934xxx) doesn't have the lever.  The 
instuction book says to push in the rewind/release button to make a 
double exposure.  I probably inadvertently did this when I got my 
unwanted doubles.
I hope, anyway, that that's all it is.l
