I want to thank all you luggers with your meter suggestions.  As much as
I wanted to buy a new meter, my old one found me again!

One of my coworkers found it in our company lens cases I had used on a
job. It was the week before a vacation so the brain had vacation written
all over it.

But thanks to your suggestions,  I probably will treat myself anyway to
a new meter!

On top of that our ISP had a hacker go and mess up their server.  I
still have this isp, but now have a dial up with another provider.  What
a day!
