Most times i carry a small Seconic meter with me. However during normal daylight hours, you can pre set the exposure values. They hardly alter between about 9.am and 5pm. (at least here in australia) For times not to long before and after, just gradually open up one or two stops. If you don't use slides, it isn't that critical anyway.
