Subject: [Leica] Howto keep a lens cap on?

First of all, the stock Leica 39mm caps suck. They use a weak
plastic hoop to develop tension rather than two separate spring-
loaded plungers like those found on their 46mm (and larger) caps. In
any case, I don't use any stock caps... I use the "Generic Brand"
caps sold by B&H, $5 each, made by Hama. They (in 46mm size, anyway)
have very strong spring loaded plungers, and grip far better. For
example, once I have it seated properly on my 90 Elmarit-M chrome
(current, HEAVY), I can lift the entire lens by the cap, shake it up
and down, and it stays on. I don't know if the 39mm caps are
designed likewise, but I will be going to B&H tomorrow, and I'll
check it out and report back. In any case, it would be a good idea
to keep a cap over your lens when you're not shooting, unless you'd
like your shutter to look like a pincushion...

What is the secret to keeping M lens caps from getting knocked off
when they're coming in and out of a bag? Sounds like a STUPID
question, but it plagues me to no end with all three lenses that I
use (35 Summicron & 90 tele-elmarit, both using the same 39mm caps;
and 50mm Summicron, the one with the extensible lens hood).
