Marking Leica Fotographie's 50th anniversary, the competition is to be a pentathlon with four set themes in colour and a theme of the photographers choice in b&w. Entries may consist of up to five pictures per theme. Colour prints must be between 9x13cm and 24x30cm or 35mm transparencies. The themes in the colour section are: People, Landscapes,Architecture and Action. First prize is Leica R8 equipment to the value of DM15000; second prize is Leica M6 equipment to the value of DM10000; third is two Leica projectors worth DM7000. The closing date for entries is 15 July and the winners are to be chosen by international jury" I spoke to Germany who seemed a bit vague on the rules etc. because the man dealing with it is on holiday. However details are in Leica Fotographie 3 and the person you need is Mr. Koenig on 0049 692 600 632 "Legend returns with a wider view Voigtlander is back with a new super-wide 135 format camera featuring a choice of two specially designed lenses. The Bessa-L incorporates TTL metering and a 1/2000s maximum shutter speed and will be offered with either a 15mm f4.5 Super-wide Heliar aspheric lens or a 25mm f4 Snapshot-Skopar. Both come with dedicated matching viewfinders and are said to produce outstanding results for landscapes, architectural interiors and general purpose photography. Attachment is via an L-mount screw (presumably Leica!) that allows interchangability with matching lenses and cameras. Overall design is retro in keeping with the marques long-established pedigree dating back to a time when cameras had individual personalities. Delivery will start around the beginning of May, when the expected selling price for the Voigtlander Bessa-L complete with 15mm Heliar lens will be about £500 ($850)" Interestingly, the photo of the camera shows it with no viewfinder of its own, but only an accessory viewfinder! The information is passed on in case it is of interest. Gerry (UK)
