Under CURRENT US "Fair Trade" laws, a manufacturer may set ADVERTISING prices through various means but cannot control at what price the dealer actually sells the product. The older version of Fair Trade was more fun, as that allowed the dealers to control the selling prices when they made BOTH the lens and camera body - -- which is why we see all that wonderful profusion of after-market LTM lenses in the '50's. <sigh> Buy my book, and read all about it!
