We're actually coming out of a drought at the moment which extended from last June to January, and there have been few winter rains, just enough to bring the water table up a bit. The humidity isn't the problem in the summer: it tends to be rather dry here, and a day above 90 (F) is a rarity. Now, I grew up in Pittsburgh, where the winters are cold and snowy and the summers ARE humid and hot. That's where I learned to hate heat!
