Or could this be the "kilo-litre-metric-system", >that wonderful abortive measuring device used to reduce Canadian firearms >to nought?>>>>> Well yes I do believe he an old Peter "Pierre Trudeau" worked to-gether on that klums--kliks thing at some time! And that's why Leica's focus correctly and Nikons focus backwards!:) Due to Pierre and his KLUMS one of the first L1011 Air Canada aircraft filled with "petrol" in Montreal after the conversion from Imperial, was supposedly filled, but unfortunately it wasn't! The fuelling crew were still thinking in Imperial measurements and the aircraft ran out of gas!!! Fortunately the flight crew were a bright pair pf lads and found an old wartime airfield in western Canada and landed the plane in the midst of a "car rally" of some sort. The aircarft caused a few drivers to be ticked off as the plane raced down the runway chasing cars helter skelter. The passengers weren't charged any extra for the thrill ride to the stop!:) However they were all allowed one free change of undershorts! :) >I presume you mean 1800 miles. If so, kindly speak such.>>>>> I guess if it's 1800 miles then I understand why I'm still suffering from this winter weather. :) I'll just have to move to Hawaii after all. damn! Does this mean I'll have to pay those cheap prices for my new Leica's? You know your American money to ours? :) <<<>(Canada, apparently, has abandoned the God-given Imperial system of weights >and measures for the inherent PC lunacy of the "manic system", er, the >"metric system". Their zoning and construction dudes, however, insist on >"four by eights" and the like. Canadian lumber yards, or so it is >reported, cannot produce such, as this would violate the Pierre Elliot >Trudeau Metric Mandate.>>>>>> Well now that's true about the lumber. But did you know that the game of "Football," you know that sport where they throw a pigskin and chase after it? They have ten yards and 3 or 4 ups or downs to go? Well hell imagine it being changed to " 2nd down and 3 meters to go!" :) If you think the construction lads were upset, well heck let me tell you about the football jocks! Somehow the football fields were designed in yards and there was a hell of a fuss because the football people figured you Americans wouldn't know what the hell was goin on in the game if it were changed to liters and meters.:) So it stayed yards. But the way I figured, you folks don't know what the hells goin' on half the time any way, so it wouldn't have made 1 yard or 2 meters difference either way, any how.:) And that's why the Leica cameras and lenses made in Midland, Canada had to have feet and meters! ;) And if that doesn't start an interesting Leica topic I don't know what the hell will! :) ted Ted Grant This is Our Work.
