wherever I go, I've always an M with me.In these days,I've my black M5 with
2.8/50 Elmar (new) in my Tenba. With a black body and black lens you are
really unobtrusive and, believe me, 140 grs more or less, don't make any
practical difference.I've to admit,though, an M2 or M6 it's easier to
handle, maybe it's the "rounder" shape.But, once you get used to an M5, you
feel fine.

Thanks for your reply. I use a Sekonic L-408 with my M2, usually with
incident readings, occassionally with reflected readings when I'm using
longer lenses for distant subjects. I find that this works fine for me and
that once I have worked out a range of exposures from the shadowy areas to
the brightly lit ones in the interiors that I am usually working in I don't
need to take too many readings to get acceptable results with wide latitude
b&w and colour negative films.

I'm very interested in trying out an M5. Do you find any significant
difference in ease of handling between the M2/3/6 and the bulkier M5? I do
like the size and feel of the M2, I'm harldy aware that I've got it with me
when I'm not using it, then when I reach for it everything falls to hand.
Yet I must admit that the only thing that bothers me about the bulk of my
Nikon F4S is the way that it shouts 'photographer', so I'm sure the 140 or
so extra grammes of the M5 over the M2 wouldn't make much practical
difference. How do you find it?
