Used at f1.4-2.0 it has lower contrast, vignetting (which can be considered an art form) and an ethereal component to the pics. At f2.8 onwards it gains sharpness considerably. It has that dual role (DR) which can be exploited for artistic effect. If you want a sharp lens all the way, then the 35 summilux ASPH is the lens of choice. If you do not mind the one stop difference then the summicron is a good choice too. I use my non-ASPH summicron all the way to f2.0 and found the pics sharper than what the Summilux can do at f2.0. I used the 35 summilux for some time but sold it in preference for a lens which is more consistent in sharpness at all apertures. Dan K.
