I was just out of Brooks and worked for Bill Herbert Photography in San Jose CA. Bill had an Omega D2 and used Varigam VC paper. He had a filter attachment mounted below the lens that had two filters mounted in it, and a switching solenoid. I forget the colors, I remember one being very dark and purpl'ie and the other a yellow-green. Anyway, the enlarger timer also controlled the filters. You dialed-in the paper grade you wanted, the time, then pushed the expose button and the light filter (the home position) got a percentage of the exposure, then the other (dark purpl'ie) filter flipped under the lens. There was a solenoid that switched the filters. After the exposure, it flipped back to the light colored filter so you could see to change negs, crop, focus, etc. This system was made up of a split filter system. A percentage to the yellow-green light and a percentage to the blue-red light. Percentage switched by the paper grade chosen. Is this Split Printing? Jim
