I used to teach in my classes that circular polarizers were only necessary for autofocus lenses; however, since I don't use them myself, I shouldn't have jumped in to answer. It would be nice if the cheaper linear polarizers would work on Leicas! Stick with black and white and use M's and you won't have to worry about filters!
