I enjoyed this one! I was a college student and earning -XX$ when I
purchased my first Leica-- a lovely IIIf red dial. Sold a bunch of junk
accumulated in my youth to do so and considered it my first step toward
ownership of adulthood. Also happen to be into guitars and agree that
the 'instrument' feel of my Leicas is as wonderful as playing a Taylor,
Rickenbacker, etc-- these perhaps aren't the quality of the "handmade
guitars" you speak of, but they seem pretty nice to me... ha! anyway,
nice to see younger LUggers out there as I'm 32 and started down this
road in early 20's... My thing is : buy used quality; and from an
'individual' who I trust. I have gotten some good deals this way both
in vehicles, cameras, etc, etc. I see no reason in my income bracket to
spend for new if I can enjoy a used and well-cared for camera (or
instrument!) AND save for retirement!... Anyway, ....
