I also have a 1.4/50 for the Canon EOS 10s, a camera set I admire so much that my ex-wife and I actually fought over it in the divorce, with her saying "you take that damned thing with you!" and my responding "no, I'll leave it for you". Every time we talk now, she reminds me that I have to pick it up one of these days ... It's big, it's heavy, it's slow, it's clumsy. But the lenses (2.8/24, 1.4/50, 2/100, 2.8/200 L) ARE quite qood. But I always used it on straight manual-focus, manual-exposure, so why lug the weight around? My Rollei 35 is more convenient, and a LOT lighter! And my M6 with 4/200 and Viso III weighs less than the EOS 10s and 2.8/200, so I'd only use the latter when I absolutely, positively needed that extra stop.
