Subject: [Leica] Re: Japs stole designs

This long thread was started by some knucklehead with a completely
unfounded fabrication accusing japanese optical firms of copying
german designs. Even if it were true -- and I have no reasons to
believe that it is -- so what? Didn’t Microsoft copy the
‘look-and-feel’ of Lotus 1-2-3 for its Excel program? And didn’t Lotus
copy Visicalc prior to that? In the optical equipment industry, the
Japanese have beat the Germans, period. Canon and Nikon are currently
the only major suppliers of semiconductor photolithography equipment
with unmatched resolution capabilities. Did they get there by just
copying some german lens designs? Get real! As to the dufus that used
the abusive ethnic epithets, he should be recognized for the chump
that he is.
