Denmark is without a doubt is a great place to prowl around with your camera in hand. However, the ultimate photo-op is in Horsens, Denmark Horsens is located in Jutland on the Baltic side of the peninsula. For one weekend each year part of the city is transformed into an medieval town. The authenticity and attention to detail are unbelievable. I guarantee it is unlike anything else you have ever seen. Costumes, foods cooked over real fires, men doing battle with "real swords" and shields, a man killing chickens, crafts done the way they were 800 years ago, pigs roasted over an open fire, the electricity is turned off and the whole area is lit by torches, candles and fires. And best of all it's FREE. They don't charge for anything...except food and beer. With an M6, a couple Summicron lenses, and some reasonable fast film, you can make outstanding images. You see, most of the festival is held in the evening or at night and the only light comes from fires, candles, etc. The color that your lenses produce is just unreal. Take your AF Nikon or Canon with an 80-200 zoom lens for the jousting and sword fights because the action is fast (these people really beat the hell out of each other), but at night, the M6 is king. This is an event you don't want to miss...and the price is right. Call you local Danish tourist office, or look them up on the net and request information on the Medieval Festival at Horsens.
