Nicht war? or not? Anyway, I got a IIIc so I could have a camera very nearly my own age (52) just to say that I had and used a camera as old as I was. I like the idea of a 1938 Leica because it was contemporary with so much history ( the year Emelia Earhart went missing- close to the demise of lighter than air airships, and so many things you see on the history channel!). They are also one of the few cameras from those early years that still work and can still be readily fixed even today! I remarked to the manager of our store (Well Known Photo Chain) when the guy that came in complaining that we were trying to get him to pay more money or some such because we couldn't get his Pentax Spotmatic fixed at the facility the store uses! I told John I felt like waving my 50 year old Leica under his nose and shouting, "If you'd gotten a camera that was worth a damn to begin with, we wouldn't be having this conversation...." But, I had taken my Prozac that day, and just quietly chuckled instead! Dan dwpost@msn.com
