I have the one german made one with the removable lens hood. It is simply a marvelous lens. I have a well used 90mm f2 summicron which exhibits flare when stopped down to below f4. In examining the lens the diaphram blades the finish of the blades have seemed to wear smooth. I have an older Canadian (black) version. This lens must do for me until I can swing the new 90mm APO. Can any one suggest a reputable repair shop for this and the question below? My M4-2 needs to be recovered. Could any of you out there suggest a reputable repair firm to do the job? The camera is due for a CLA at the same time, so it would be an ideal time to have it spruced up. Its been 5 years since I sent it in to Leica in NJ for a CLA. Does Leica replaced the covering. Most important for me, what do they charge for a recovering and a CLA at the same time. I am a professional photographer who uses his Leicas for certain assignments. My main gear consists of Canon Eos gear that my company provides. The auto focus is nice, but is not foolproof. I think todays photographers will become inept at calculating exposure without a light meter as I have done from time to time with 400 speed films. This is my first post to your group. gck - ------=_NextPart_000_0003_01BE3703.0C7E83C0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D'"MSHTML 4.72.3110.7"' name=3DGENERATOR> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><SPAN class=3D230161316-03011999><FONT color=3D#000000 face=3DArial = size=3D2>From=20 what I understand the current style of 50 mm f2 summicron (built in lens = hood)=20 is optically identical to the prior version (with removable lens = shade).
