I think you've provided the source for your "steady hook" since I've been on
the list, but I can't find it. I'd like to give it a try.

Yes, yes. What R models have lock up capability? (Do I really want to know).

Why is longer better? I've got an 18" cable that's wrapped in a durable
plastic casing but it's hard to carry. Whenever I open the zipper pocket the
thing comes at me like a cobra. I need it for my shoulder stock, but
otherwise I use a 6" release.
