You don't have this problem with an R4. Why is longer better? I've got an 18" cable that's wrapped in a durable plastic casing but it's hard to carry. Whenever I open the zipper pocket the thing comes at me like a cobra. I need it for my shoulder stock, but otherwise I use a 6" release. - --G
