It's not about what something costs to buy, it's about what something costs to
own.

Check out the Complete Car Cost Guide and you'll find that most Mercedes are
cheaper to own over a five year period than large American cars and SUV's.  If
you take into account that a Mercedes has a virtually limitless life span, you'll
find they are much cheaper to own than other cars.   They're also extremely easy
to maintain.

The same thing applies to Leica gear.  How many people are using decades old
Nikon gear?  How many people have actually sold their Nikon gear for more than
they paid for it?  I sure couldn't.
