One more thing about 35mm lenses.  It helps in shooting fast with a
rangefinder to know that the horizontal coverage of a 35mm lens closely
approximates the distance from the camera.  Thus, if you are focusing on an
object 10 feet away, the horizontal coverage at ten feet out will be about
ten feet across.  Of course, this is only an approximation, but I find it a
useful approximation.
