Richard,

I have only been to northern Italy.  With apologizes to our Italian LUG
members, cameras are very popular among thieves in Rome and southern Italy.
I understand that they work in teams - where one person distracts the
tourist and the other grabs a Leica souvenir or purse etc.  Have a great
shooting experience but exercise caution at all times.
