Hi Scott,

If I were to say that the Canada-German price difference-quality question
has been a sore point with me for years is putting it mildly.

One of the re-actions I have is pure nationalistic, as I see the folks who
consider the German assembled lenses better as putting Canadians down as
technicians. Some people do feel that way, however not all. I'm sure it's
one of those "collecting things" that every pice they collect must be "made
in Germany."

To those of us who buy and use Leica's M or R, certainly myself, I don't
give a hoop where they're built, just as long as they do what they are
supposed to and are the quality that I expect of a Leica camera or lens.

Well a few of the "Canada made" lenses have set the standard for the German
side to follow. The Noctilux?  Canadian bred and born!!!! Yep they make
them over in the Black Forest now, but the Noctilux was conceived in the
forests of Midland, Ontario, Canada. And then I smile! :)

But this Canada-Germany-Portugal thing will always be around for due to
collecting and I guess that's the way it works. Me? I just use 'em and I
don't care where they come from. :)
