Without digital "tweaking", a Velvia transparency prints with saturation closer to a projected Kodachrome. Another thing, if you read Rowell's book, you will learn that he loved the pre-1974 Kodachrome II (as did we all), but became dissatisfied with the replacement (K25) due to its lack of saturation and increased contrast, six years before Velvia came along.
